The problem of religion and politics

Do politics and religion really make strange bedfellows? They concluded that many Christians left the church because of the church’s active affiliation with conservative politics. You’d better believe it!  On both sides.  But the issue I have is why “the church” aligns itself with either side of politics.   And since they do, why isn’t everyone upset about something related to this? The simple fact is – in my opinion – neither part gets what Jesus taught. And therefore, unfortunately, “the church” isn’t really supporting what Jesus taught either. BTW – did you notice how “my opinion” became fact? Just checking to see if you’re paying attention. Post Views: 11

Whoever has my commands and keeps them …

Jn 14:21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. OK – but what are those commands – and are we actually following them? this will be the introduction to a series – with the details of those commands to follow on later days. Post Views: 6

National Day of Reason

Should there be a National Day of Reason? “Come now, let us reason together,” Since I believe the preceding statement is true, the answer must be yes – we should have a national day of reason. And the fact that humanists, atheists, Etc. want it to be on the same day as the National Day of Prayer – well that’s just the icing on the cake.  What better day could there possibly be? An Idle Mind …

An idle mind … An idle mind may or may not be the devil’s playground, But it most certainly is NOT God’s playground.   Mt 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Mt 22:37 Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”   Post Views: 3

Will pig hearts end up in people?

Researchers keep pig hearts alive in baboons for more than 2 years This is a real headline. Should we care? The picture on the left is a group of doctors transplanting a baboon heart into a human. Yes – that’s right – a baboon heart into a human. The pig heart question maybe doesn’t seem so far-fetched any more does it? Post Views: 6
