Do you really want to be an adherent of Jesus?
Do you really want to be an adherent of Jesus – in other words a disciple? It’s not that hard. But it’s really difficult. It’s the best thing in the world. But it means giving up a lot. It’s free. But it’s asks for a lot.
Does that description want to make you quit? Give up?
Or does the challenge intrigue you? Make you want to find out more?
Do you wonder how something so hard can be so easy? Or how something so challenging can be so rewarding? Are you willing to find out how giving up so much can give you even more?
Do you realize that a disciple is an adherent of Jesus? More than that, do you realize that adherent comes from the word adhere? That means to be a true follower of Jesus, we should figuratively “stick to” Him. Like we are attached with glue. That’s why I used the word adherent. rather than disciple. Too many people have a wrong impression of what a disciple really is. What the word meant when Jesus used it with the disciples in His time. And what He no doubt wants from us today.
Do you really want to be an adherent of Jesus
Are you willing to do that?
Better yet, have you thought about what it means?
It’s when we get a better understanding of that adherent relationship that we can really see the answers to all of those questions above.
Remember, Jesus said, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. That life to the full doesn’t come by just saying a few words, but changing nothing. It comes when we trade-in the things that prevent us from having life to the full for the things that enable us to live life to the full.
