Joel Osteen – “God uses people to push you to where you’re supposed to be.”

This entry is part 1 of 9 in the series Why the government can't save you

Yes – it sounds like I’m picking on Joel Osteen.  Sounds like I’m even judging him. … So I’m not picking on Joel Osteen. I’m reminding us – all of us – that God really did leave us to take care of things for Him.  Yes – with the Holy Spirit – but still with us as the physical beings allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us.

This is what happens when you don’t believe in God

This entry is part 4 of 4 in the series Science vs. God

Without recognizing that we are special because we have the breath of life from God – I supposed there’s a lot to be afraid of.   Thinking that machines will self-actualize, like HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey, could lead one to be afraid of AI.  Knowing that it takes the breath of God to make us what we are, leads one to not be afraid of AI.  No matter how smart we may think we are – we don’t have, and never will have, the ability to give anything the breath of life from God. No.  It’s not AI that we need to be afraid of. …

Evolution debate will soon be history?

This entry is part 2 of 4 in the series Science vs. God

One of the warnings we get from Jesus is this – Mt 10:32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” Like I said – the question of who gets credit for “evolution” – whether it’s atheistic or theistic evolution – is a huge deal.  Who gets the credit, from your point of view?

Are Muslim and Christian “jihadists” driving us to the End-Times? 2

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series What God versus religion is about

In the days of Noah, people were evil in their hearts.  Tell me – how great is the evil in our hearts when even our talk of religion – what’s supposed to be our beliefs about God – turns into the kinds of things it is today?  How much evil does it take for one Catholic to call another Catholic equal to a jihadist?  How much evil does it take to have some Catholics call other Christians equal to a jihadist?

Religious Freedom in China – intro

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Religious regulation by government

This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Religious regulation by government Like the United States, The People’s Republic of China has freedom of religion.  It says so in the U S Constitution and in the PRC Regulations on Religious Affairs, so it must be true?  Right?   I mean – just look at the first amendment for the U. S. – Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Surely all those laws we have that restrict and / or control what religions can say / do / believe can’t possibly go against this amendment. Can they? In the same way, Article 2 of the Regulations on Religious Affairs for China says – Citizens have freedom of religious belief. That must be equally as true as the one in the U S, right? Actually – they are pretty much equally true.  One difference is that in the U S, we pass separate laws chipping away at the freedom of religion. […]

Why God is a curvy, black woman in ‘The Shack’

This entry is part 4 of 7 in the series God versus religion - why?

Should God choose to present Himself to me as one of the many judgmental Christians (which lets me our of looking in the mirror to have God represent Himself to me as me – got it?) I would be shocked. No less shocking would be if He presented Himself to me as either a father or mother figure. One thing I’m sure of though – whatever way He chooses – it will be the way I need it.

Unintended Consequences – CA SB 1172

This is – first and foremost – a law that targets innocent children.
Really, all of this is over minor children. It says that parents can’t engage in conversion therapy for their minor children (for who, again, the parents have responsibility – to both the government and God). However, when that minor child turns 18, they are free to get conversion therapy on their own.

It Will Happen Again

It will happen again. Why?  Because we insist on freedom from religion.  Freedom from God. What is it? It’s Orlando – the mass killing – the child killed by an alligator. It’s Sandy Hook – more mass killings. It’s your neighbor – beaten up by her husband / boyfriend / lover – again. It’s all the things we want to put an end to.  Insist we can do it on our own.  And ignore the real problems. Post Views: 54

The problem of killing infidels

45 times the Qur’an says Allah (Allah / God) is oft-forgiving. How then can one justify killing anyone who is thought to be an infidel? Who is to say that God won’t forgive them?   For instance – Sura 3:31 Say (O Muhammad to mankind): “If you (really) love Allaah then follow me (i.e. accept Islaamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’aan and the Sunnah), Allaah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” Khan, Dr Muhammad Muhsin. English Translation of the Qur’an (Kindle Locations 671-672). . Kindle Edition. Whether one is a follower of Islam or not – does this not say that Allaah is Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful?  What chance does God have to be merciful or forgiving if one kills the infidel before God does either or both of them? A bit earlier, we read – Sura 3:8 (They say): “Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.” Khan, Dr Muhammad Muhsin. English Translation of the Qur’an (Kindle Locations 630-631). . Kindle Edition. Note the words – “after you have guided us”.  If you were […]

Three Tragic Verses – One Unavoidable Conclusion

When presented with the facts, no matter how much we don’t like what they say –  sometimes the conclusion is unavoidable – The U. S. will not help Israel at a critical time – and we will be part of ushering in “The End”. Three tragically depressing verses from the Bible are these – Eze 22:30 “I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. Zec 12:3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. Rev 4:1 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” Post Views: 4

Is life supposed to be like this – 64,000 dangerous household chemicals?

Is life supposed to be like this: House Set to Subject 64,000 Household Chemicals to Regulation Of course not. So why do so many people reject the chance to have a better life?   When I first read the headline on msn.com news – House Set to Subject 64,000 Household Chemicals to Regulation – my first thought was about how much money that was going to cost. Then I wondered how the chemical companies ever let this get considered, let alone approved. Then I read the article (Sorry, this article is apparently no longer available), and understood why the chemical companies were not only OK with it – but would support it. Then I thought about how eventually – this won’t be a problem. Finally – I thought about the issue of – So why do so many people reject the chance to have a better life? A better life? Yes – a better life. Let’s look at that and see how.  And why so many will reject the opportunity. First of all – the 64,000 chemicals that are going to be regulated.  And these are just the ones to be regulated.  I would never have thought the number would be […]
