The Universe Should Not Actually Exist, Scientists Say. And yet …

This entry is part 6 of 6 in the series Science vs. God

God said He created the universe.   Science says the universe should not exist.  And yet it does indeed exist.  And you, the reader, along with me and those very scientists, are living proof that it does.

This is what happens when you don’t believe in God

This entry is part 5 of 6 in the series Science vs. God

Without recognizing that we are special because we have the breath of life from God – I supposed there’s a lot to be afraid of.   Thinking that machines will self-actualize, like HAL in 2001 A Space Odyssey, could lead one to be afraid of AI.  Knowing that it takes the breath of God to make us what we are, leads one to not be afraid of AI.  No matter how smart we may think we are – we don’t have, and never will have, the ability to give anything the breath of life from God. No.  It’s not AI that we need to be afraid of. …

Science vs God – The Concepts of String Theory

This entry is part 4 of 6 in the series Science vs. God

Given that I’m a “lowly mortal” and not perfect – I need to be sure you get this next part.  What is suggested here is only a possibility – a possible explanation of why we might perceive these 11 dimensions.  I make no statement as to what God actually did, does or will do.  It’s an explanation of how the Bible and science might be much more in line than many people think – as opposed to the all too easy position to take that the Bible and science are totally at odds with each other.

Evolution debate will soon be history?

This entry is part 3 of 6 in the series Science vs. God

One of the warnings we get from Jesus is this – Mt 10:32 “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” Like I said – the question of who gets credit for “evolution” – whether it’s atheistic or theistic evolution – is a huge deal.  Who gets the credit, from your point of view?

proselytizers of a new faith

I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith … Questions – Who said that?  What is this “new faith”? And what does this have to do with what the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:11?   Answer #1 – who said it – Professor J. Dunphy. Who is he?  The author of “A Religion for a New Age”, which was published in Humanist Magazine. What is Humanist Magazine?  An atheist publication. How can an atheist publication talk about a new faith?  Read on and prepare to be really upset. Post Views: 6

The problem of Global Warming

What’s the real problem of Global Warming? Arrogance. Here in California where I am, you can no longer build a house with a fireplace.  At least “regular” people can’t.  I’m sure that with enough money and loopholes, the rich people can do it.  But the average person can’t.  Because we will make global warming worse. There are also days when those of us in old houses that do have fireplaces are told we can’t use them.  Because we will make global warming worse. I’m waiting for the day when we’re told we can’t use our outdoor BBQ any more either. Because we will make global warming worse. Arrogance. Seriously. Look at this picture:   This is a picture from a forest fire raging in Alberta Canada as I’m writing this. Now – ask yourself – does this contribute to global warming? Does it maybe contribute to global warming more than some fireplaces and bbqs? And it’s not like this is the only fire.  There are lots of them. When I was in school – we used to be taught that things like forest fires were “nature’s” way of taking care of those forests.  The old / dead stuff was burned […]

Self-folding material?

Did the paper plane on the left really fold itself into that shape?   Does that make the paper – or whatever material it is – “intelligent?   Is this the first inanimate object that can manipulate itself?   Or, for those old enough to remember them, is this like the SASE? Remember the SASE?  In case you don’t – it was a “Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope”. I never did get them to work properly.  The darned things never did address or stamp themselves.   They failed to function – at all. Every single time I always ended up addressing them and putting on the stamp myself! So has the problem finally been solved? There’s a clue in the sentence below – along with more propaganda. Call it one small step for material science, one giant leap for origami. Researchers have created the first heat-reactive polymer material that can not only remember its current shape but also memorize new ones. The clue – it’s heat reactive. The propaganda – that it “memorizes” new shapes. PLEASE!!! What is the need by some people to give “intelligence” to objects that don’t have any? What is the need to make inanimate objects somehow seem to […]

Were medieval “pocket Bibles” really made from aborted animal tissue?

Ancient bibles were made from livestock   This is the headline from scienceshot.  In a way, it sounds awful.  But it’s better than what they used to say.  And better still than what some others say. Why is it so hard to just tell the story without bias and lead with what gets pushed to the very end? … suggesting that the thin vellum was a question of time-consuming craftsmanship … Post Views: 10

Can the vocabulary of deceit reveal fraudulent studies?

Do scientific fraudsters have a distinct literary style? They do, suggests a new study from researchers who pay close attention to the vocabulary of deceit. … according to   What is the extent of this deceit? So there are fraudulent studies.  And they can detect them by the words used.  Neither of these is particularly shocking.   But look at the words in the picture above – which was included in the article.  Was this a slip – or was it intentional?   Maybe even an attempt at subliminal influence on the people reading the article? I mean – look at some of those words – angel – one of a class of spiritual beings; a celestial attendant of God. sacred – devoted or dedicated to a deity or to some religious purpose;consecrated. good – morally excellent; virtuous; righteous; pious. shine – to give forth or glow with light; shed or cast light. All of the definitions above are the first ones listed for the word at   Not from a religious or Bible dictionary.  Just an ordinary site that anyone who speaks English would be likely to go to. But let’s look at them – angel – one of a […]

It’s time for Christians to acknowledge what Darwin REALLY did

What Darwin really did was prove the Bible was correct! And who told Moses what we read in Genesis today?  God.   It’s about time Christians stopped attacking Darwin for his order of creation of species – and start telling it like it really is – that Darwin merely discovered an order of creation that Moses already knew 5,000 years ago.  And Moses knew – because God told Him. I posted something a couple days ago about why the Big Bang Theory is not contrary to what the Bible says.  Not only that, but scientists are now trying to find a different theory – I believe in large part because too many scientists, who are also Christian, are embracing the Big Bang theory as very much in line with what Moses wrote.  In other words –  the Big Bang Theory confirms what God told Moses 5,000 years ago! Now that we’ve just passed another birthday for Charles Darwin, it’s time to look at what he really did.  And I think we’ll find it’s pretty much the same.  All Darwin really did is yet again prove that what God told Moses is again being proved out by scientists. Let’s look at […]

Why are scientists running away from The Big Bang?

Some say Christians should avoid science.  Others, like me, say we should embrace it.  Could God be the reason scientists are now saying the big bang didn’t happen? Everything we know about the Big Bang could be wrong     The quote above is from  Here’s the opening line from the article.  Hope you’re sitting down. Could the Big Bang theory be wrong? A proposed new model of the universe argues yes—the universe has no origin point at all. It’s funny.  Some people say Christians should stay away from comparing science and the Bible.  Others – like C. S. Lewis, one of my favorite authors – say the exact opposite.  I’ve always thought embracing both science and the Bible should be a good thing.  I mean – what are we afraid of?  That God lied about how the universe was created?  Or maybe that He doesn’t know how it happened? The fear is that by trying to use the Bible to explain what scientists say, we are up against a moving target – because even though science claims to have the answer and really “know” things – those “known” things change.  Just like this one says – Everything we […]

Cockroaches have personalities? Science – or dehumanize people at any cost?

Is this really a goal of some scientists – to prove that people are no better than cockroaches? Filthy, smelly, repulsive. There are a lot of ways to describe cockroaches, but “full of personality” usually isn’t one of them. Yet a team of scientists has not only found evidence that the scuttling insects have personalities, but also discovered that when cockroaches get together, they create a group personality. I read this, and can’t help but think of this verse from the Bible – Jn 11:35 Jesus wept. Seriously.  Is this what some people aspire to?  Reducing human life to the level of a cockroach? Makes me think of some other Bible verses – God’s Wrath Against Mankind Ro 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Ro 1:21 For although they […]

shrimp with 12 retina – evolution or design?

This is part of a continuing series to show the amazing things that God has created.  It also hopefully serves as an educational tool to show just how impossible random chance evolution really is. In the deep sea, where light is dim and blue, animals with bigger eyes see better—but bigger eyes are more conspicuous to predators. In response, the small (10 mm to 17 mm), transparent crustacean Paraphronima gracilis has evolved a unique eye structure. And there’s the question – evolved – or designed?     A summary of the article is available at  An account is required to read the entire article. To give an idea of the actual size of this shrimp, it’s length in inches would be from 0.39 to .67 inches.  Roughly between 1/2 and 2/3 of an inch.  That’s small. Here’s what the scientists did – Researchers collected the animals from 200- to 500-meter deep waters in California’s Monterrey Bay using a remote-operated vehicle. They then characterized the pair of compound eyes, discovering that each one was composed of a single row of 12 distinct red retinas. Reporting online on 15 January in Current Biology, the researchers hypothesize that each retina captures an image that is […]

Why God Must Exist

Someone asked me why I believe God must exist.  I’ll say right off, this won’t be for everyone.  The request came from a comment I made that having been a math major in college and spending 35 years in the computer industry, it’s safe to say that I think logically.  And, that even though I didn’t want to, I came to the conclusion that God must exist.  So if you’re not into math, this may not get your interest.  On the other hand – I’ve been told that it’s possible to skim through the math parts and still get the concepts.  (If you’re reading this, Hi again! to ServingJesusHere) For the background on why I didn’t want to believe in God for a while – you can check out the about me page.  I’m not going to get into that here, since it’s not relevant.  I’m also going to assume the reader has enough of a background that fine details won’t be explained.  Otherwise it’s going to be way too long.  Infinity One concept that I had a really hard time with, and still do actually, is infinity.  You have this thing called a number line.  You can pick any […]

Making Planets or Discovering Them?

Are we pretending to be like God? If you can imagine a planet, and then discover one that could maybe be a little like the one you imagined, that’s the same as making one, right? Apparently so.  At least one could get that impression, based on two different articles – one from and the other from Awesome stuff.  Sounds incredible. But how real is it? Have we become like God – able to make planets?   The article is titled How to make a planet just like Earth.   I enjoy cooking and baking, so I’m expecting to see a recipe, step by step, hopefully with pictures, ’cause I like to verify that what I’m making looks like it’s supposed to.  And for baking, it’s got to be really exact, otherwise the right chemical reactions won’t happen, and I’ve got a mess. I also enjoy doing woodworking, so a really nice blueprint with exact dimensions would be anticipated.  I’d really like to see some well laid out cut sheets too. Makes the whole thing so much easier. The article from is titled Earth-sized planets discovered by Kepler may really be Earth-like.  This seems to lower the bar for […]

Site of Jesus’ trial found? 1

Archaeologists make stunning find: Could this be the site of Jesus’s trial? This is an amazing story on many levels,  It was well presented in the article. It should be good thing. Unfortunately, one of those amazing levels can be found is in the “Leave your comment” section at the end of the article.   First, here’s a link to the story from MSN.  Here’s an excerpt from that story – The debate over the site of the trial continues among Christian spiritual leaders, historians and archaeologists. Questions about the location stem from various interpretations of the Gospels, which describe how Jesus of Nazareth was brought before Pilate in the “praetorium,” a Latin term for a general’s tent within a Roman encampment. Some say Pilate’s praetorium would have been in the military barracks, others say the Roman general would probably have been a guest in the palace built by Herod. Today, historians and archaeologists are certain that Herod’s palace was on the city’s western side, where the Tower of David Museum and the Ottoman-era prison stand. For Shimon Gibson, an archaeology professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, there is little doubt that the trial occurred somewhere within […]

Was there really enough water to flood the earth?

You’ve probably heard the claims.  There wasn’t enough water to flood the entire earth.  And even if there was, it couldn’t have rained fast enough.   And even if it could, it wouldn’t have drained fast enough.  So it couldn’t have happened.  It’s scientifically impossible. Not so fast. One of the top stories from Science Magazine last year may say otherwise.   You won’t find it listed under the title of “Noah’s Flood Could Be True”, or “Noah’s Ark Really Was Needed”, or even “Noah Was Right”.  Certainly not under “God Really Did Flood The Earth – And We Can Prove It”. No. It’s under the title “Cycling water through the transition zone”.   The prevailing theories were that it just wan’t possible for rain to have accumulated enough water to actually flood the earth.  And – as I said at the top – even if that somehow could have happened – it certainly would not have drained as quickly as the Bible claims. But now, the article, from June 13, 2014 says – The water cycle involves more than just the water that circulates between the atmosphere, oceans, and surface waters. It extends deep into Earth’s interior as the […]

Do you care if human pregnancy evolved because of a virus?

If someone were to tell you that roughly 100 million years ago, our ancestors were infected by parasitic DNA, which copied and pasted itself throughout their genomes—and that this was linked to the evolution of modern human pregnancy – what would you think? how would you react?    This is originally from October 2, 2011.  Updates are in rust colored italics.  I had a hard time with this title. It was going to be something like: Scientists may know why our babies advance so much in the womb. or maybe: Did Human Pregnancy Evolve Because of an Infection? Eventually, I went with Who cares about religion? That was three years ago.  Now, obviously, I changed it and went for Do you care if human pregnancy evolved because of a virus?  I think it’s more representative of the topic.  It also gets to the heart of the matter of choice.  Do you want to just accept what it says – that human pregnancy evolved (as opposed to us being created this way) and that this evolution was caused by a virus? The first two choices were the subtitle and title for an article in Slate yesterday. It starts off with – If someone […]

Who’s afraid of science? (has been updated)

Above all, do not attempt to use science (I mean, the real sciences) as a defence against __________. They will positively encourage him to think about realities he can’t touch and see. There have been sad cases among the modern physicists. If he must dabble in science, keep him on economics and sociology; don’t let him get away from that invaluable ‘real life’. But the best of all is to let him read no science but to give him a grand general idea that he knows it all and that everything he happens to have picked up in casual talk and reading is ‘the results of modern investigation’. Do remember you are there to fuddle him. From the way some of you young ______ talk, anyone would suppose it was our job to teach! Is Someone Afraid Of Science? Clearly, the answer is yes. But – who?   This was originally written on January 28, 2011.  Updates are in rust colored italics. OK – it’s purple italic text above, so it’s quoted from someplace. But I’m not going to tell you where – not yet. Also – note there are two words that are left out. Here’s the question. Who exactly […]
