Do you want to be immortal?

Do you want to be immortal?

Since this is about looking at ourselves, let’s look in the mirror and ask the person we see there, Do you want to be immortal? To be honest, if it’s about being immortal in this word, the way it is and where it seems to be going, saying yes is very hard. I think most of us know there’s something wrong with this world. And we want something better, even though we don’t seem to be able to do anything to keep it from getting even worse.

Do not be afraid because of them!

Do not be afraid because of them! But who is “them”?

Do not be afraid because of them! That might sound good. But who said it? Who was it said to? Does it apply to us? And who is “them”? Who is it that we shouldn’t be afraid of? Oh yeah – why shouldn’t we be afraid? These are all good questions. Will we ask them? Or will we just run with the statement not to be afraid? Especially if we’re Christian and we know this comes from the Bible!

If Christians are a new creation, why isn't everything perfect?

If Christians are a new creation, why isn’t everything perfect?

If Christians are a new creation, why isn’t everything perfect? I ask the question because of today’s Verse of the Day, from YouVersion. It says we are a new creation. The old is gone. The new is here. It sounds so exciting! So how come things aren’t perfect? For that matter, how come little or nothing seems to have changed? Is the verse wrong?

Does anybody really care?

Does anybody really care? About what?

Does anybody really care?  Did you ask, “Care about what”?  Or did you just answer?  If you answered “Yes”, what do you care about?  Maybe the top five things?  If you answered, “No!”, why don’t you care?  On the other hand, if you answered, “I don’t know”, are you still alive?

Take those cute Koalas in the picture.  Do you know, they probably don’t care about much of anything?  They’re so spaced out on Eucalyptus leaves, that’s about all they care about.

Are we the same way?  So spaced out on whatever our favorite escape thing is that we don’t care about anything?  Not about ourselves? Not about each other?

Suffering for doing good

Suffering for doing good

If you’ve got that feeling to do good things, even with the potential cost to you, with no ulterior motives, with nothing but unselfish love for someone like your elderly neighbors that you’re shopping for, why not acknowledge that’s God?  Jesus told us He’d try to get our attention.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Why not open that door and start bringing an end to the suffering for doing good?
