So in love with two - Jesus and ???

So in love with two – Jesus and ???

You may remember So in love with two. It comes from a song about a girl in love with two boys. But I look at it as a Christian, in love with Jesus and someone or something else.

Ultimately it’s not up to us to decide what Jesus is asking of us.

It’s up to us to decide whether we want to do what He is asking.

If we decide which things we want to do and which we don’t – the result will be like that camel going through the eye of a needle – it’s not gonna happen.

If we do what Jesus asks – then all things are possible – including that camel making it through the eye of the needle.

So – what did Mikaila’s song choose?

Hey, hey, hey

I choose the both of you

Uh Oh.

Hot Button Item: How do I justify Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ stance on abortion?

How do I justify Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ stance on abortion?

In light of that, should our hot button item be strictly focused on preventing abortion?

Or should our focus be on spreading the Gospel?

On getting people to understand why abortion is against God’s will, rather than only trying to make it against man’s law?

Shouldn’t we focus on the eternal souls of both the mother and the baby?  Helping the mother to navigate a difficult time?

Loving the mother, no matter her choice of whether to go through with the abortion or not?  Loving mother and baby if the mother chooses to go through with the birth?

Ultimately, shouldn’t we be more like Christ?  We are, after all, Jesus’ representatives here on earth – until He returns.  And that is part of what we’re to do per the Great Commission.  Judgment is His, not ours.  We are to love.  Even, and maybe especially, when we don’t want to.

Why can't America deal with the Coronavirus?

Why can’t America deal with the Coronavirus?

Why can’t America deal with the Coronavirus?  Maybe for the same reason we can’t seem to deal with much of anything these days?  We’re so split on just about every issue.  If you ask people what color is the sky, I bet we couldn’t even agree on that!

But maybe it’s not what you think.  I don’t believe it’s really political, although that seems to be a big factor.  I don’t think it’s race either, even though that also appears to be another big factor.  The question is, are those really the problem?  Or are they symptoms of the real problem?

The problem of hating people of color

The problem of hating people of color

Do you know what’s the problem of hating people of color?  Well, one of many, actually.  So, so many.  But if you’re a regular here, you should know what’s going on with that question.  In “the problem of …” articles, I often write about things that might keep someone who claims to be Christian from entering Heaven.  On this site, that generally means things we love so much here on earth that we’d rather try to hang on to them than go to Heaven.  But this one’s the other way around.

Is the Great Commission for Everybody, Somebody, Anybody or Nobody?

Is the Great Commission for Everybody, Somebody, Anybody or Nobody?

Is the Great Commission for Everybody, Somebody, Anybody or Nobody?  When I was working, I used to have a sign in my office that told the story of Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.  Given all the protests and other things happening surrounding the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police, I couldn’t help but think about it.  For a number of reasons.

But one thing that brought it to mind is this headline from msn: Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: Racism Won’t Stop Until We ‘Accept Jesus Christ’.  If you’ve read much oh my stuff, especially over on whichgodsaves.com you know how a feel about mixing government and religion.  It’s a bad mix.  Really bad.  It compromises Christianity, and that’s never a good thing.

Suffering for doing good

Suffering for doing good

If you’ve got that feeling to do good things, even with the potential cost to you, with no ulterior motives, with nothing but unselfish love for someone like your elderly neighbors that you’re shopping for, why not acknowledge that’s God?  Jesus told us He’d try to get our attention.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Why not open that door and start bringing an end to the suffering for doing good?

Is abortion the only pro-life issue?

Is abortion the only pro-life issue?

She doesn’t know what to do.  She doesn’t really want to have an abortion.  But doesn’t know what else to do, because the Christians are screaming at her to not have the abortion.  But then if she has the baby, she also knows those many of those same Christians have, under the name of their political party, made it pretty much impossible for her to support the child.  And, few of them will offer any kind of help.

Tell me.  Who all sinned in that scenario?

This then is how you should not pray...

This then is how you should not pray…

This then is how you should pray.
That’s the passage before The Lord’s Prayer.  Short.  A mere 4 verses.  But what is Jesus really saying?
In the first part of the passage, Jesus talks about this then is how you should not pray.

But is it like, I wish you wouldn’t pray like the hypocrites?  Or maybe it’s, I’d like it if you could avoid praying like them.  Or is it more like, you really need to ask for My help and try very, very hard to not pray like them?  Or do you think it’s just a suggestion, as in it’d be nice to not be like them but don’t worry if you can’t help it?

Wait ’til you find out what they meant.  It’s shocking if you’ve never noticed before.

Our Thoughts and Prayers Go Out ...

Our Thoughts and Prayers Go Out …

When we say, “our thoughts and prayers go out to you”, who are we sending them out to?  Do we actually believe someone’s listening to them?  Assuming the answer’s yes, do we also believe that someone can / will do something about them?  The answers to those simple questions matter.  If we can’t honestly answer “yes” to both of them, then it’s just words.  Presumably good intentions, but with no expectation of any results.  Essentially, without belief in some sort of response to our thoughts and payers, it’s wasted breath on our part.  And a meaningless gesture to the recipients.
