Do we believe Jesus?
Of course, all Christians believe Jesus. Right? Sorry, but that’s wrong. Actually, do we even realize what “believe” actually means? Once again, I’m sorry to say that not every Christian does know.
Seriously. Today, believe doesn’t portray the same image as it did when Jesus was alive.

There’s one article in this category that really sets the tone for Do we believe in Jesus? It’s Are we supposed to Believe in God, Believe God or Follow God?
As the name implies, the answer to this all important question isn’t quite as simple as we might think. Or hope.
Do we believe Jesus?
If we go by today’s meanings of believe, believe in, and follow – most of us would have something different to say about all three terms.
But if Jesus meant something different from what we think about these terms, that difference could be, literally, life and death. Not life and death here on this earth. Rather, life and death for eternity. All because we think believing Jesus means one thing – but Jesus thinks it means something very different.
For example, if we get it wrong, we could end up hearing the words as the end of this passage from Matthew’s Gospel:
Mt 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Honestly, I don’t want to hear the words I never knew you from Jesus. I pray that you don’t either.
This category, do we believe Jesus, goes into depth on those three important terms – believe, believe in, and follow.
