Acts of God
When a tree destroys a car, why is it an “act of God”? And why do we call things like this natural disasters? There’s nothing “natural” about it. Why not call it an “act of Satan”?
How do Americans view Christianity? In spite of what we may thing, apparently not very accurately. Surveys say fewer Americans view themselves as Christians. It’s still a majority, but no longer the overwhelming numbers it used to be.
However, from survey results, even those who still call themselves Christians can hold some very un-Biblical views of the religion they claim to profess.
How do Americans view Christianity?
The image on this page may be indicative of many Americans when it comes to Christianity. Jesus said this:
Mt 13:14 In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:
“ ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
Mt 13:15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’ 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.
Although Jesus said it about the Jewish people in His own time, it’s also true about many people in our time. When it comes to many Americans views on Christianity, like the doll, without eyes to see and ears to hear – it’s impossible to get it right.
It’s even harder to get it right when we don’t even read the Bible. Many Americans, claiming to be Christian, say that they want to read the Bible more. But they don’t.
This category of articles will examine all those issues, and more.
