How does rest influence the seven days of creation?

Sometimes we need to take a break. And if we really need one and don’t take it, God might tell us to lie down in green pastures. I’ve been there. Done that. And apparently, needed to do it again. And that got me to a day of rest. Actually, a time of rest. Which leads to: Was it seven days of creation? Or seven creation days? Ever since the beginning, the two things are tied together. That begs the question, how does rest influence the seven days of creation?

I believe in God. That’s a common answer when someone is asked, “Do you believe in God?” But, is that really true? I’ve been amazed by survey results that appear to show a belief in God but then has so many contradictions in the questions that follow. That’s the reason for the second part of the title – “Yes. Is your spiritual life private? My question is for Christians. And it arises from an article I just read titled, Fifty six percent of Christians Feel Their Spiritual Life Is Entirely Private. If you only read the title, and you have a private spiritual life, a reasonable conclusion is that it’s OK to be so private about your faith. But, is that really a good thing?

The Trinity: Is there one Christian God? In other words, do you agree with the following statement? There is one true God in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Would you believe, only 56% of Americans strongly agreed with that statement? As of 2019, about 65% of the population of the U.S. claims to be Christian. That means at least 9% of them don’t agree that there is one Christian God, made up of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Oops.

Truth is, that number could be over 9%. There are likely quite a few non-Christians that would know Christianity teaches about the Trinity: one God in three Persons. Even Muslims know about the Trinity in Christianity, even though they teach it’s not correct. Oops again.

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the peacemakers. But who / what are peacemakers? Some of you will think of a Colt handgun. Or a strategic bomber. Or maybe even an MX Missile. If you’re Christian, or think you’re Christian, hopefully those aren’t the first things that come to mind. Why not? Because Blessed are the peacemakers is something Jesus said. It’s one of the Beatitudes, from the Sermon on the Mount.
