The Rapture Is Coming And It’s Obama’s Fault

This quote is from Michele Bachmann.

Please – you’ve got to be kidding!

If you want to read the original story, it’s here on msn.com.

“We in our lifetimes potentially could see Jesus Christ returning to earth and the rapture of the church,” Bachmann said. “We see the destruction, but this was a destruction that was foretold.”

OK – I don’t disagree with this.  The world we live in is more and more approaching a time when the things foretold really could take place.

However!

To give this much credit to one man, no matter how much anyone may dislike him / his policies, is more than a bit too much.

There have been – and currently are – many leaders in the world that have probably been seen as ushering in the time of the rapture.

I certainly don’t agree with a whole lot of what our current president is pushing as part of his agenda.  On the other hand, I don’t like a lot of what the republicans offer up either.  But I wouldn’t credit either one as being responsible if the rapture were to come today.

No – it’s not them.

It’s us!

Especially in this country, the leaders are only in power because we, the people, put them there.  We voted for them.  We kept them in office.  Some of them for decades.  If they are pushing policies that lead to God saying “I’ve had enough – it’s time to end this” – then it’s our fault.

The End will come when God says it’s time.  And it won’t come because of one person.  It will come because people have turned away from God.  A whole lot of people.  And – as I said – I think both parties in this country are turning people away from God.  To blame the “leader” of either party for The End coming is to try to remove the blame from ourselves.  Try as we might – God won’t see it that way.

Even in Roman times, when Jesus was alive and for a couple hundred years after His death – during an incredibly repressive government – the rapture didn’t come.  Even though the people couldn’t vote – they still managed to follow God.  Neither party in this country can prevent us from following God either.  The thing is – if we really don’t want to follow God – but would rather follow the teachings of Jesus that we like, and ignore the ones we don’t, then both parties provide an excuse to blame them and declare ourselves innocent.

We can claim that we can’t follow God – because the democrats made abortion the law of the land.  The reality is – no one is forcing anyone to have an abortion.  And Jesus already told us – give to Caesar what is his , and to God what is His.  Paying taxes to give the government the ability to do something against God’s will is not a sin.

We can also claim that we can’t follow God – because the republicans won’t support huge amounts of money for welfare.  The reality is – no one is preventing anyone from helping poor people.  In Jesus time, the “church” provided assistance to the poor.  Not the government.  That’s the way it was.  Now, some feel that if the government doesn’t do it – we’re sinning.  That’s not at all what Jesus said.

Conclusion

When The End comes, it won’t be any one person’s fault.

It will be our fault.
Our fault for turning away from what Jesus taught.
Our fault for turning away from the way He and the early church lived.
Our fault for letting the government that we elected take the place of the “government” of the early church.
Our fault for blaming others, rather than taking responsibility for ourselves.
