Christianity Today just asked a really interesting question – Was the U.S. never really a Christian country, or was US Christianity corrupted by politics? If you’ve read much of my stuff, you likely realize I say that with our entanglement of religion and government, we’ve never been a truly Christian country. It’s just not possible when we mix politics and religion. Given my own stance, it will be interesting to see what CT has to say on this question.

You may remember So in love with two. It comes from a song about a girl in love with two boys. But I look at it as a Christian, in love with Jesus and someone or something else.
Ultimately it’s not up to us to decide what Jesus is asking of us.
It’s up to us to decide whether we want to do what He is asking.
If we decide which things we want to do and which we don’t – the result will be like that camel going through the eye of a needle – it’s not gonna happen.
If we do what Jesus asks – then all things are possible – including that camel making it through the eye of the needle.

If you don’t know what this is about, it probably sounds like someone’s really into being dumped on. But then, if you’re a regular here, you know what this is about. Do we know what the apocalypse will be like? According to something I just read, apparently we don’t have a clue. For all the disaster, end-of-the-world, apocalyptic movies that are out there, we just don’t know. Not even close. And there’s a reason for that. Hang in there – I’ll tell you shortly.
But for now, here’s what brought up the question today. There was this article on msn.com titled These States May Face ‘Apocalyptic’ COVID-19, Says Virologist. Sure, they put Apocalyptic in quotes. It’s not really the end of the world. Yet. As far as we know. Or as far as what we can gather from the Bible. The preconditions for it just haven’t been met.

Open your eyes. Take the plank out of your own eye. Really see with them. The way Jesus said we need to see. Then ask, where is my treasure? Is it in Heaven or on earth? ‘Cause if it’s on earth, you’re on the path to Hell. You know – the path of the blind?
Please, don’t be so devote to someone – anyone – who’d so devoted to things not from God that you lose sight of when you also become so devoted to the dark that you end up on the wrong path.

Why do you live? The economy or God? Really, that question comes down to who’s your “god”? Do you live for the god of money – the economy? Or for the God of the Bible? It’s a question that starts at the top – sort of. With our president – Trump. And now it’s filtering down through our governmental leaders. Which brings in yet another “god” – the god of government.
In spite of the fact that Trump call himself the greatest president ever for Christians, there has to be a question as to who is his real “god”. And now, enter Dan Patrick, Lt. Governor of Texas. A Republican. Let’s look at a news article on msn.com, titled Dan Patrick says he is willing to risk his own life to allow economy to resume.

Each day has enough trouble of its own. Isn’t that the truth? I’m guessing pretty much everyone reading this feels that way. It’s true. But do you know where it comes from? Further, why it was said? I’ve known the where part for decades. I’ve been learning the why part for the past ten years. From my dogs. All five of them.
No – you’re not in the wrong place. This is about Jesus and Christianity. And dogs. Why not? Dogs are part of God’s creation too. In fact, back when the movie version of The Shack came out, I wrote the following as my conclusion to what I titled, Why God is a curvy, black woman in ‘The Shack’?
Should God choose to present Himself to me as a dog (if He hasn’t already) – I would totally understand why, and be thrilled that He chose to present Himself in a way that was not in the least threatening to me.

Seriously – the Bible warns about high interest rates and subprime loans? How can that be? There weren’t any Wall Street banks or investment companies. If Wall Street even existed, it would maybe have been the path along the Wailing Wall along the west side of the temple.
