Which is more important - Christmas or Easter?

Which is more important – Christmas or Easter?

Which is more important – Christmas or Easter?  Since so many people only go to church on Christmas and Easter, I’m guessing it’s a tough choice.  So they cover the bases, so to speak, and go to church for both.  But what if I told you that choosing between the two of them is kind of like forgetting that there are four bases in baseball?  That covering the bases thing is leaving out two really important days?

Will we be married in Heaven?

Will we be married in Heaven?

Will we be married in Heaven?  That’s a tough question.  And many people don’t really like the easy answer.  That easy answer, of course is, no we won’t be married in Heaven.  And that’s because Jesus said, The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage …

But is that too easy?  Actually, yes, it’s way too easy.  Partly because the quote is taken completely out of context.  And also because it completely ignores the cultural differences between Biblical times and many parts of the world today.  Further, it completely disregards the reason marriage and divorce were even instituted in the first place.

Dragons and the things God has prepared for those who love him

Dragons and the things God has prepared for those who love him

The goal here wasn’t to tell you that toothless will be in Heaven.  And it wasn’t to get you to want to ride around the universe on him.  No, the goal was to get you to think.  Even more so, to dream.  And dream big.  Really big.  And very good.  To get you to realize that no matter how good you may think this life is, the next life will be so much better.  Better than you think.  Better than you can dream about.  And something you really don’t want to miss.

Will there be cheese in Heaven?

Will there be cheese in Heaven?

Will there be cheese in Heaven?  Maybe you don’t care.  I do.  I’d like to see smoked salmon too.  But here’s the thing.  Cholesterol is becoming a problem for me.  And the number one factor is cheese.  Almost everything is better with cheese.  And the more cheese, the better it is.  Even cheese alone is good.  So when I ask, will there be cheese in Heaven – it’s a serious question.

For you, maybe it’s butter.  Or bacon.  Or something else.  Whatever’s important to you – you might be asking, will there be [fill in the blank] in Heaven.

A trip to Hell - on the way to Heaven

A trip to Hell – on the way to Heaven

Think about this as part of our trip to Hell.  Not after we’re dead – not while we’re on the way to Heaven – because that’s too late.  I say, think about it right now.  Well, how about after you finish reading this.

While we’re “visiting” in Hell, we’ll see all of our friends and loved ones who’ve died, and didn’t make ti to Heaven.  Now, think about how many of those friends we reached out to while they were alive.  How many of them did we share the Gospel with?  How many of them did we try to steer away from Hell, but instead put them on their way to Heaven?

let the dead bury the dead

Let the dead bury the dead

Let the dead bury the dead.  What does that even mean?  How can one dead person bury another one?  Actually, the more common translation is “let the dead bury their own dead”.  But still – we’re not talking a horror movie here.  This is a quote from the Bible.  From Jesus.  I don’t remember ever reading about this verse in a book.  Don’t remember hearing it in a sermon either.  I only remember reading it in the Bible.  Right now though, I feel like I’m living it.
